Nathan Bomford produces images that focus on interstitial spaces: private spaces unseen by the eye of the general public. Roland Barthes’ ‘presence of the absent’ is an important part of Bomford’s work. Drawing from traditions of tableaux and documentary photography, he produces images reminiscent of film stills and set design. He takes an interdisciplinary approach to his work culminating in photography and installation.

Bomford completed a Diploma in Visual Arts at Camosun College before earning a BFA (photography major) at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. He is currently an MFA candidate at the University of Victoria. He has exhibited across Canada.
