The paintings use schematic transformations to create abstractions.
They try not to be simply derivative or imitative. They are interested
in the performative as well as the transformative. They skirt the
edge of parody and profundity, no matter how dangerous the terrain.
They suggest various phenomena that have been repressed and/or
translated into new models for a future world - a detached world
that celebrates every coming advance with sadness. They are metaphorical
and realist, poetic and descriptive. They are history paintings
and relics.
